Take a Look!

Hillary just sent me the link to the preorder for it on Amazon. I was thrilled that she asked me to contribute to it, and I believe I’ll have 7 layouts appear within the covers. It should be released around January. This is one I just can’t wait to see! I was able to preview several of the layouts included in here, and they blew me away. Quite a few awesome contributors: Severine di Giacomo, Celeste Smith, Amanda Probst, Nichole Periera, and lil ole me.

Thanks Hillary!

Ooo, one more thing. I just logged in and saw that my pic is up at Busy Bee Scrapbooking. They were sweet enough to ask me to be their guest designer for the month. I got to choose a challenge for the message boards, and I wanted to do a journaling challenge. You get to choose between, “___+___=_____’ or Your favorite Special Occasion. Check out the Challenge gallery here. Hope you’ll check it out!

A Momentous Day

Today I did something big.

I don’t do stuff like this every day. Heck, I barely do stuff like this from month-to-month.

But today I did. And I feel so good.

Today, I marked things off my to do list.

I know, whoopdie do, right? But, oh, that’s where you would be so wrong. Because this isn’t just any old to do list. Oh no. This to do list has things on it dating from last July. Things like finishing up the paint job from this paint event. Ok, so my excuse then was that I couldn’t do the trim until I had the door installed, which was done in November. Ok, so the door guys were back again today to order a new screen (thank you to our neighbor’s son who ran through it) and to replace the brick moulding (heck, 5 months ago, I didn’t even know what that was! It’s just wood, btw. Not brick. Wood that frames the outside of the door. Big whoop.) So yes, that was marked off the list, too. And, while I still haven’t tackled that trim painting (or the other two walls that wait to be painted in our bedroom, which I started sometime in October, I think), today I DID do….

1. Paint ‘wood lily’ around the door (when they replaced the moulding, it was off from when I had originally painted).

2. Spackled in the bathroom. This was no small task. I had to use a patch kit and spackle holes from where we replaced the light fixture. I’ve done 3 coats so far. Note to self…replace light fixtures BEFORE painting the room, cuz now I have to go dig out that paint can, too.

3. Spackled the trim on the stairwell. Crap builders suck. The trim had pulled away during settlement, and left a crack that I knew I’d repair someday, and that unnerved Chris to no end. Honey can thank me later for his nerves being less of a wreck when he walks up the stairs now.

4. Spackle the stair rails. (noticing a theme???) This was from the Zuzu puppy days. We started w/ a gate at the bottom of the stairs, but she was so tiny she could jump b/t the rails to go up. (A couple of stolen meals from Emily later, she can’t do that now.) So, back then, we’d put the gate up on the third step. Also not a good idea. She’d get lonely when I was upstairs and decided to chew the rails. Grrrrrrrrrr. So our rails have looked like shit for a year. This spackle job was NOT easy b/c I had to recreate square rails. But I did it!

5. Cleaned the upstairs bathroom. (trust me, this is momentous)

6. Vacuumed.

7. Dusted….AND rubbed oil on the LR tables. (is this getting shocking yet? I know my mom has fallen out of her chair by now.)

8. Went to a Dr. appt at 7:30am, which was a 45 minute drive away. Man, I should have mentioned that first, b/c all of the other stuff looks way more amazing following the fact that I actually woke up early.

9. Made an appt for the guy to come on Wednesday to install a sprinkler system in the yard. We’ll see how much THAT costs, but we figure if we’re going to spend the money to actually get a lawn in the fall (as opposed to the wild onion farm we have right now), we should probably ensure it gets watered. I’ve already mentioned that my motivational days don’t happen often, and I know I’m not watering a lawn every day for the rest of my life.

10. Called the insurance company. Ugh - let’s not go there. Still waiting for a decision from them.

….and the amazing part?

I still took a 3 hour nap this afternoon. Amazing, huh? Yeah, it seems that I get energy to do a month’s worth of work in one day. Don’t expect another day like this for a while. But with that wonderful breeze coming through the windows all day, I just couldn’t help it. Man, I love spring!
