One more bit of weirdness, + terror.
I thought of one other weird thing…
6. My grandfather (mom’s dad) died on July 17, 1966. I was born exactly 10 years later, July 17, 1976, at the same hospital. Creepy.
And if my daughter had a weird list, I’d probably have to list how she did #2 in the bathtub last night. And not the nice neat kind either. I thought I was gonna puke. I guess she’s not really ready to potty-train after all. (ewwwwwwwwwwwww!)
Now, on to terror. Today was picture day for Gabe. This scares me. Do you remember the last set of school pictures from Kindergarten? You don’t? Oh, that’s because I refused to hand them out. Let’s do a visual recap:
Terrified that his pictures would look like that again, I began smile practice with him a few days ago. Yes, I’m totally serious. You would THINK, considering how many times the poor boy has had to smile for me over the years, that he would have it down to an art. Evidentally not (see above.) So we had smile practice. This morning on the way to school, I really thought he had it down. There were some beautiful smiles coming from that darling face. He was so proud of himself. So this afternoon, he gets into the van after school and says, “Mom! I’m smiled! Like this!”
And proceeded to flash the Terror Grin of Spring ‘06 (again, see above).
Not to mention that he said the photographer took his picture twice.
Oh crap. Just what is going to show up in his bookbag four weeks from now? Please let it be good, God. I don’t think my family will let me get away with not giving them school pictures again. (Cuz I don’t take enough other pictures? [rolling eyes]).
I’ll keep you updated.

Well, I think I would take the terror grin over a shiny nose drop any day. That is how my son’s kindergarten pic turned out. LOL! What is it about school portraits? THe kids seem to always get that deer caught in the headlights look?

Last year, my DD had the wierd Hair Bow Sticking Straight Up, Looking Like a Loop on Which to Hang Her. This year, today, in fact, we are skipping the hair bows!! And yes, we had smile practice, too, because she’s got so many adult teeth, and she tends to curl back her upper lip to show them off. Oh, please don’t let “Fang” show up in her backpack in a few weeks!!
I’m sure Gabe will look adorable. And seriously, perhaps we should swap 1st grade photos so we’ll know what our future son/ daughter in law looks like! (I’m scheming, that’s right!)

the Nephew’s kindergarten graduation photo sucked big time. he looked like he was stoned. my belief is that school photographers also work at the DMV. ya gotta start somewhere.
